Job Title: Battery Scientist Engineer

Location: Centennial, CO (onsite)

Role Summary:

In this role, the electrochemistry researcher will be a key member of the analytics team in multiple capacities. Design of cycling experiments and analysis of electrochemistry data, progresses customer projects and improves Iontra’s technology, while analysis of material characterization data improves the overall understanding of Li-ion batteries and how Iontra improves their charging. This is a position with plenty of opportunities for growth, creativity, and input in the companies’ analytical methodology and equipment. This is a full-time role located in our Centennial, CO office.

Salary Range: $90k - $110k (salary is based on education, experience, skillset, and market value).

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Design battery cycling experiments using formal DoE methodology for continuous optimization and repeatability to meet internal and customer requirements
  • Independently operate commercial battery cycling equipment and proprietary custom built battery cyclers
  • Perform potentiostat-based analysis of batteries and cell materials, including EIS, incremental capacity analysis, and other electrochemical performance and analysis measurement
  • Collect and analyze data from material characterization equipment including XRD, SEM, optical microscopy, and more
  • Work with the R&D and analytics teams to develop and continuously improve Iontra’s lithium-ion cell technology
  • Support efforts to expand analytical material and electrochemical characterization techniques
  • Support technical writing and presentation efforts for customer reports and meetings
  • Interact with customers in meetings

You’ll Need These Qualifications:

  • PhD in a hard science field
  • Masters in a hard science field with 2+ years of non-academic experience
  • 4 years of research experience is required
  • 3 years of electrochemical and materials characterization is required
  • 2 years of rechargeable battery experience is required
  • In lieu of degree, additional years of experience may suffice
  • Demonstrable competence with battery testing methods, equipment, and protocols
  • Act as a technical expert about rechargeable batteries
  • Must be comfortable independently conducting various types of EIS experiments and interpreting results
  • Expertise applying design of experiments (DoE) concepts towards optimization and understanding underlying theory (in designing and in application)
  • Familiarity with sample preparation for structural characterization including glovebox operation, cell teardown, vis-cell apparatus, EDS, and XRD

In this role, you’ll be tasked with performing essential duties as a part of both the Iontra research team and the product development team. You’ll be responsible for implementing and consistently maintaining a disciplined and planned set of daily and ad-hoc processes and laboratory activities described below in order to advance our technologies and applications. This is a full-time role located in our Centennial, CO office in a fast-paced startup environment. 

Salary Range: $100k-$120k (salary is based on education, experience, skillset, and market value). 

What You’ll Be Doing: 

  • Architecting and leading electronics hardware for battery applications
  • Drafting schematics and using PCB CAD layout software
  • Interfacing with embedded systems that are a mix of hardware and software
  • Outlining, defining and performing engineering tests
  • Working with standard EE tools (multimeters, oscilloscopes, waveform generators, etc.)
  • Writing and maintaining documentation with Atlassian based tools and git version control systems
  • Mentoring team members on their portions of the design and improving their skillsets

You’ll Need These Qualifications: 

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or similar field
  • 7+ years of experience working in a relevant role designing electronic hardware
  • Experience with ground up PCBA design, from specification to assembled product
  • Proficient in system architecture, circuit design and simulation

Role Summary: 

In this role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that products meet certain quality standards before they are moved into production/operational active cycling. This typically involves conducting tests and inspections on products to identify defects or issues, developing, and implementing quality control processes and performing all Risk Management/Risk Prevention before implementation. You will also analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement and may work closely with production/operation/engineering and Product Dev teams to address any quality-related concerns. Overall, this role is crucial in maintaining the quality and reliability of products for consumers. You will be responsible for helping define and implement our inspection process using a continuous improvement approach and contributing to developing and maturing our quality processes. 

Salary Range: $60k – $75k (salary is based on education, experience, skillset, and market value). 

What You’ll Be Doing: 

  • Electrical wiring, circuits, and relays and testing of both DC and AC up to 480 volts 
  • Perform Quality Control inspections, testing, validation, and calibration of in-house Instruments such as cal-fixture, NI modules, provisioning PCs and cell emulation
  • Visually verify the parts and materials for Cyclers being tested in house 
  • Strictly adhere to all safety and environmental rules and regulations to protect employees and public safety 
  • Knowledge of quality standards such as ISO-9001 Quality Management System 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions to improve 1st time quality 
  • Aim to reduce rework and collaborate with the Operations team, Engineering and Product Dev on any products requiring rework, while maintaining accurate documentation 
  • Revise or develop SOPs as required to assure that all needs are addressed, and compliance with industry standards 
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures and protocols including creating QC checklists for accountability 

You’ll Need These Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job
  • Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education
  • 3 years of experience working in Quality Control and Inspection with a good understanding and adherence to GMP practices
  • 3-5 years in a QC manufacturing role

Role Summary: 

In this role, you’ll be leading the execution of IC design activities for our charge controller IC. You’ll be responsible for running the day-to-day activities of the IC development team while anticipating roadblocks and cross-functional dependencies with execution. You’ll also be required to work with teams outside of IC hardware development like Software & Applications to ensure they are not blocked by the progress of the design team. Additionally, the design manager will work with external vendors and foundry contacts to ensure no surprises in the roadmap across all teams involved.  

What You’ll Be Doing: 

  • Lead and oversee cross-functional activities of the IC design process for the Iontra custom charge controller
  • Lead and monitor execution of the various deliverables, dependencies and issues from the domain managers like Micro-architecture, Integration/RTL, Design Verification, Physical Design/STA, DFT, PE and Packaging
  • Develop and manage metrics to assess the execution state of health, analyze risks and alleviate them by working with the management team
  • Collaborate with IP vendors, conduct periodic reviews and oversee their timeliness on deliverables for the Design Team
  • Work with our foundry and manufacturing partners to set up processes and resolve technical challenges and issues in a timely manner
  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify requirements, review specifications, and ensure requirements are met in the design
  • Provide technical leadership, direction, and expertise in establishing design methodologies as required
  • Define and maintain project schedules while ensuring metrics-driven design quality
  • Gather project requirements, prioritize product backlogs and run standups, project reviews and technical deep dives as needed
  • Oversee release of pipelines to cloud and on-prem environments, identify and remediate issues in production systems
  • Analyze and resolve issues, including cross-functional issues, respond to queries and ensure completion within available timeframes
  • Design innovative tools to solve critical problems, create documentation and collateral required for the product design and customer deployment
  • Provide leadership, mentor junior engineers and hands-on help to the team in regular investigations and debugs as needed

  • 10+ years of experience in IP/IC-level Design Verification

As our IT Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll partner with our IT Manager to help us accomplish our ambitious goals by implementing and maintaining dependable technology support to the Iontra team. You’ll be leading company-wide IT deployments that will have a significant impact on the technology that is used on a day-to-day basis. You will use your technical knowledge and specialized skills to support, build, implement, and improve technology solutions. This is a full-time role located in our Centennial, CO office in a fast-paced startup environment. 

Salary Range: $125k-$135k (salary is based on education, experience, skillset, and market value). 

What You’ll Be Doing: 

  • Building and maintaining an AWS, Azure and On-Prem stable/reliable cloud-based network and system infrastructure including monitoring and system performance
  • Responsible for expanding our Cisco Meraki infrastructure and application integrations across tier 1 platforms and locations
  • Responsible for security patching, firmware updates, updating deployment images, and management of SSO integrations with Azure AD
  • Partner with IT Manager on initiatives as well as research, design and implement companywide IT projects
  • Assist with Level II and Level III ticket queue, user administration, security, hardware management and any other IT related items

In this role, you’ll be tasked with performing essential duties of Iontra’s Supply Chain team with special focus on the Blink powerbank project. You will be responsible for sourcing the qualified vendor(s) that meets Iontra’s technical requirements as well as business requirements such as capacity, pricing and quality. Responsibilities include driving price negotiations upfront before vendor selection through effective benchmarking of BOM costs and multiple bids. You will be required to collaborate with Sales & Marketing team as well as Engineering team to clearly understand and drive the requirements for effective implementation through the vendors. You will be required to drive alignment on mutual expectations & requirements from both Iontra and the vendors by setting up effective communication channels at regular cadence with a clear path for escalation as needed. You will be responsible to build relationships at the executive management level of the vendors. What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Working closely with sales, marketing and application engineers to demonstrate to customers how existing products can be integrated efficiently within a system

In this role, we are looking for a Senior IC architect to join and lead the Architecture in our IP & IC Design Teams. This is a hybrid role that will require some on-site presence at our facility in Plano, TX; and offers the ability to work from home when not required to be in the office. The candidate should be willing to adapt to methodologies and tools used by Iontra like Jira/Confluence among others. 

What You’ll Be Doing: 

  • Define IC architecture working with a cross functional team for our first IC - this should bring together our CPU, with custom accelerators while optimizing power, area & performance
  • Drive high level architecture specifications and functional specifications for key areas of the IC
  • Lead Architecture/Software/Hardware/Security co-design and collaboration on feature set
  • Cross functional role, working with IC and IP Design teams including Software, PD, DFT, RTL & DV while understanding customer issues and delivering solutions
  • Capture requirements, drive specification, conduct technical reviews and support customer documentation efforts
  • Patent innovative aspects of architecture design
  • Participate and guide RTL design team, verification teams, DFT teams to ensure the architecture laid out is implemented and validated correctly
  • Participate and guide Software teams on utilizing the architecture as per the intent
  • Create systems to compute bandwidth and latency requirements of the IC and work with Design Verification to ensure they get validated pre-silicon
